Built-in analytics

Admin → Settings → Analytics turns on Insights for every site: page views, visitors, visits, searches, AI tools and broken links, without cookies and without storing IP addresses.

Off means nothing is recorded and the Insights pages are hidden. Plans decide who sees Insights.

Daily totals are kept for good; detailed events are kept for the number of months you choose, which keeps the database small on busy sites.

Readers' countries are found from the IP address at the moment of the visit, and the address itself is never stored:

  • Off: no countries.
  • Cloudflare: free and instant for sites behind Cloudflare, from the header it adds.
  • DB-IP: a free database downloaded to the server and updated by the scheduler; the Insights pages credit "IP Geolocation by DB-IP" as its licence asks.
  • MaxMind GeoLite2: free with a MaxMind account (account ID and licence key), or a GeoLite2-Country file you keep up to date yourself.
  • IPinfo, ip-api, IPGeolocation.io: lookup services. Readers' addresses are sent to the service; answers are kept for a day under a code, not the address.

Use Test country detection after saving. Customers can also add their own analytics and support tools (Google Analytics, Plausible, PostHog, Intercom and more) per site, with a consent notice for tools that set cookies.
