With FFMpeg installed on your server, users can upload videos in multiple formats, which will then be converted to playable formats.
- Testing FFMpeg Installation After installing FFMpeg, you can verify the installation using the following commands:
ffmpeg -version # To test installation which ffmpeg && which ffprobe # To get full executable paths - Configuring FFMpeg in Admin Copy the full paths of the
bin/ffmpegandbin/ffprobeexecutables and add them in the admin panel underAdmin > Settings > Media > Videos, selectTranscoding DrivertoFFMpeg, then fill in theFFmpeg pathandFFProbe Path.
Queue Processing
FFMpeg uses the saved application queue mode from Admin > Settings > Runtime > Queue. Inline mode keeps the old upload-time behavior. Deferred, spawned, and worker modes let encoding continue after the upload request.
- The interface shows upload and Encoding as separate states.
- Users cannot publish content while media is still encoding or has failed processing.
- Failed local FFMpeg jobs can be retried, or the unfinished attachment can be removed.
- Restart persistent queue workers after changing queue or FFMpeg settings.
