Tabs

Show one of several versions of the same thing, and let readers pick theirs.

Tabs hold alternatives: the same instructions for different systems, languages or plans. Readers see only the tab they pick, so the page stays short.

Ubuntu

Install the PHP extensions with apt:

sudo apt install php8.3-mbstring php8.3-xml php8.3-curl

CentOS or Rocky

Install the PHP extensions with dnf:

sudo dnf install php-mbstring php-xml php-curl

Shared hosting

Most panels have a Select PHP version page. Tick these extensions there:

  • mbstring
  • xml
  • curl

When to use tabs

  • Use tabs when a reader needs only one of the options.
  • Use steps when they need to do all of it, in order.
  • Keep tab titles short and parallel: three systems, three languages, three plans.

Note

A tab can hold paragraphs, lists, code, images and tables. Callouts, diagrams and other tabs go outside it.
