Terms and conditions

Last updated: 2026-10-12

These terms govern your use of the documentation service operated by [Company Name] (“we”, “us”, “our”), including its website, the editor, and the documentation sites you publish with it (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you use the Service for an organisation, you agree to them on its behalf and confirm that you may do so.

Your account

You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.

You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.

Workspaces and teams

Documentation lives in workspaces. The owner of a workspace decides who can join it and what each member may do (owner, admin, editor or viewer), and is responsible for the members they invite and for paying for the workspace’s plan.

If you join a workspace that someone else owns, its owner and admins can see and manage the work you do in it, and may remove you at any time.

Your content

You keep all rights to the pages, files and other material you add to the Service (“Your Content”). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, copy, process and display Your Content only as needed to run the Service for you: for example, to save drafts and revisions, show previews, and publish the documentation sites you choose to publish.

You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the rights needed to use and publish it. We do not review content before it is published, but we may remove content or restrict access to it when it breaks these terms or the law.

Published documentation

You decide who can read each documentation site: anyone (public), people with a password, or only members of your workspace. Public pages can be found by search engines. Pages remain online until you unpublish, archive or delete them, or until your workspace is closed.

If you connect a custom domain, you confirm that you control that domain and you are responsible for keeping its DNS records correct.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • publish anything unlawful, deceptive, or that infringes someone else’s rights, including copyright and privacy;

  • distribute malware, run phishing or scams, or send spam;

  • collect or publish other people’s personal data without a lawful basis;

  • probe, scan or test the Service’s security, or get around its limits or access controls;

  • overload the Service, or use it as general file hosting unrelated to your documentation;

  • resell or provide the Service to others without our written permission.

Plans, trials and payments

Plans are paid per workspace. Each plan sets limits, such as the number of docs sites, team seats, custom domains and storage, and the features available, such as password-protected or members-only docs. Current prices and limits are shown on our pricing page.

A plan may start with a free trial. When a paid period begins, it is charged in advance and renews automatically until you cancel. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. If you move to a smaller plan, features and content beyond its limits may become read-only until you upgrade again or remove them.

Payments are handled by third-party payment providers; we do not store your full card details. Prices exclude taxes unless shown otherwise. Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise or we say so in writing. We may change prices with notice; a change applies from your next billing period.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and your content safe, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change or remove features. If a change significantly reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance.

Third-party services

The Service may link to or work with services run by others, such as payment providers or your domain registrar. Their own terms and policies apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for them.

Suspension and closing your account

You can stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts or workspaces that break these terms, that put the Service or other people at risk, or that have unpaid charges.

Copy any content you want to keep before closing your account or workspace. After closing, we may delete its content after a reasonable period, except where the law requires us to keep it.

Copyright complaints

If you believe that content published with the Service infringes your copyright, contact us with: a description of the work, the address of the content you are concerned about, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised and that your notice is accurate. We may remove the content and close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim.

Indemnity

You agree to compensate us for claims and costs that arise from Your Content, or from your use of the Service in breach of these terms or the law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction], and disputes will be handled by its courts, unless the law where you live gives you other rights.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top; for significant changes we will also tell account holders by email. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
